Check out who's who in the crypto zoo

As blockchain technology revolutionizes the world, it's important for us to take a look at the first few people to give Bitcoin the push it needed to get to USD 20,000. Whether you've seen their names in a Twitter war or on your computer's antivirus package, these are the Bitcoin celebrities that you need to know about before you enter the market:

Satoshi Nakamoto:

Satoshi Nakamoto is the creator of BTC, the most important among the Bitcoin celebrities, and his identity is still unknown to this day. Nakamoto first appeared in 2008 when he released the BTC white paper via a cryptography mailing list. This was also the first use case of blockchain technology. He created the website, which was later transferred to a reputable software developer known as Gavin Anderson who still manages it. Satoshi Nakamoto disappeared off the web around 2013. Although many have tried to decipher Nakamoto's identity, even falsely accusing and stalking Dorien Satoshi Nakamoto, yet the true individual is yet to be found. Nobody can confirm why he disappeared or when he'll be back, but as the creator of BTC, he sparked a revolution that will forever be marked in history.

Charlie Lee:

Charlie Lee may not be like other Bitcoin celebrities, but he is acknowledged for his involvement in the evolution of cryptocurrency. Lee is a computer scientist who worked at Google before joining Coinbase. He created Litecoin in 2011 with the intent of speeding up the system of BTC through higher transaction rates. Lee has become a prominent figure in the BTC and cryptocurrency community because of his innovation, even trying to better the actual BTC blockchain through the lighting network.

Ross Ulbricht:

Ross Ulbricht graduated with a Master's degree in Materials Science and Engineering, but soon became enthralled by libertarian economics and entrepreneurship. He tried to make his way in book sales, day trading and video gaming, his political views then led to his 'decentralized' and encrypted marketplace. Ulbricht launched the infamous Silk Road in 2011. The site utilized BTC to ensure all transactions were anonymously secured, unfortunately, this was taken advantage of by criminals. The marketplace was used to traffic drugs, illegal documents, and even people, all enabled by darknet encryption and bought with BTC. It was apprehended in 2013 and Ulbricht was convicted to a double life sentence in 2015. Despite the decent intentions he had, real criminals took advantage of him. Ulbricht's family is trying to appeal on his non-violent first-time charges, raising money through his prison drawings. Users pay USD 1 or the BTC equivalent to unlock parts of his drawings, with the potential to win prizes. He may not be like the other Bitcoin celebrities, but he was a pioneer in adoption and drawing attention to the crypto space.

Vitalik Buterin:

Vitalik Buterin is another Bitcoin celebrity who has created his own cryptocurrency tokens and universal blockchain. Buterin is a Russian-Canadian programmer who developed the Ethereum blockchain at the age of 18, in 2013. The Ethereum blockchain allows for other cryptocurrency projects to build and optimize their businesses. Buterin hasn't only been involved in pioneering Ethereum though, in 2017 he briefly spoke to Vladimir Putin about crypto adoption. He has played a vital role in the education around blockchain technology, enabling newbies to create the future, even writing for Bitcoin Magazine. Buterin has done a lot for the cryptocurrency community, he has even empowered the creation of CryptoKitties.

Roger Ver:

Roger Ver is one of the most well-known among the Bitcoin celebrities. As an early investor in BTC he took every step possible to drive adoption forward. He allowed people to buy a physical BTC coin from him, which entailed their private and public keys. This was a major move in showing users the similarities and benefits of BTC in comparison to fiat. However, Ver thought he could better BTC, so he forked BCH, but still uses his domain to promote 'his' new cryptocurrency. Although he no longer advocates for BTC, he still contributes to numerous crypto companies including Ripple, Bitpay and Kraken. He will always hold a head seat at the adoption table due to his prominent drive.

Craig Wright:

Craig Wright is an Australian businessman an computer scientist. He has worked in the field of information technology at a variety of companies including K-Mart. He was the CEO of Hotwire PE technology firm, that planned to launched the first BTC-based bank but failed due to regulatory issues in 2014. In 2015, articles were released that linked Wright as being the creator of BTC with no proof, but he accepted the claims and took anyone who disagreed with him to court. There has been no sufficient evidence from Wright to prove he is Satoshi Nakamoto, only forged documents and unmoved funds, which have led to him being called 'Faketoshi'.

John McAfee:

John McAfee is a computer programmer and businessman, making his start in the founding of the McAfee computer protection company, but he is better known in the world of cryptocurrency as a little crazy. He was a person of interest in a murder investigation, and some time ago, he promised to eat his own genitals if BTC doesn't reach USD 1 million by the end of 2020. 2020 is also the year in which McAfee plans to run for president.
