2-Factor Authentication

What is 2-Factor Authentication?

Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra security layer to your Bitvalex account access. It requires you to provide information that only you should have access to in addition to your username and password. Thus, even if your main credentials get stolen, the attackers would not be able to pass the authentication check and access your account and personal information.

Bitvalex supports two types of additional protection to secure your account access – Google Authentication app and one-time password SMS.

GOOGLE AUTHENTICATOR

What is Google Authenticator?

Google Authenticator is a mobile application that helps verify your identity before granting you access to Bitvalex. You log in by typing in your normal username and password and then enter a one-time passcode (OTP) that is visible in the app on your mobile phone.

That combination verifies that the same person entering the login data on Bitvalex is in possession of the device to which the Google Authenticator app was downloaded.

How to enable 2FA with Google Authenticator app?

  • Log in to your account and go to the Security page.
  • Click “Enable” in the Two-Factor Authentication section and choose Google Authenticator.
  • Download the Google Authenticator app on your mobile device if you have not already.
  • Scan the QR code and write down the private key on a piece of paper and store it safely. Do not share that code with anybody.
  • Your 2FA with Google Authenticator app is now set up!

OTP SMS

What is OTP SMS?

Sending you an SMS helps verify your identity before granting you access to your Bitvalex account. You log in by typing in your normal username and password and then enter a one-time passcode (OTP) that was sent to your registered mobile number. Thus, this helps us make sure that the person who is trying to log in is the one that owns the registered mobile number and is the true account holder.
